Public bug reported:

After checking some other bugs that are related with my problem i
decided to open a new one because the solutions referred there didn't
work for me and there may be some other issues that i am missing.

The main problem is the nonworking of brightness function keys, fn+f4
and fn+f5. I am using Ubuntu Hardy with a Gnome desktop. It is a fresh
install and i have the doubling problem reported in <a
href="https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/239706";>#239706</a>
and in <a
href="https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/207473";>#207473</a>,
though the solutions didn't work for me.

After the installation i was seeing "atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e01e
<keycode>' to make it known." output at the dmesg. I tried ti fix it but
it didn't help me set the brightness.

I will add the step by step procedure of what i did at this report.
