I found a fix for the key repeat issue I was experiencing, and thought
I'd share.

I added the kernel boot parameter "notsc" to my grub kernel line, and
that fixed it.  With this, I could also remove the "psmouse.rate=40" and
other suggested settings listed in the thread.

So, try adding "notsc" to your kernel boot.

BTW, my system is:

Dell D820, T7400 (Core 2 duo 2.16GHz)
2 Gb mem
100 Gb hdd
GeForce Go 7400
Gentoo 2006.1 (2.6.18-r1 and ~amd64)


Note: There is a kernel config option, CONFIG_X86_TSC, but there does not seem 
to be a way to disable it since it is enabled by default.
