I didn't disagree with you on that (after reading your first email).

My point is that when you pop in a freshly pressed Kubuntu CD, boot up, click 
your way through the installer, and log in to your brand new OS, you really 
want functions such as these to Just Work.  It's not really a problem for an 
experienced user like myself, but if I were to persuade my mom to try Ubuntu, 
a defunct "find file" function is the kind of thing that would put her off.

I mean, that's why I'm bothering to test-drive the Intrepid alphas in the 
first place, to help spot some of the rough edges that should be polished in 
order for the release to be as awesome as possible.  :-)

I'm unfortunately not familiar enough with the Ubuntu installation process to 
say if it is ubiquity or tasksel (or something else entirely) that needs to 
be changed in order to cause kfind to be installed by default, though.  Maybe 
you could help out with that (and clone/reassign the bug as appropriate)?
