Setting this bug as invalid for xfce4-terminal since it's just a config issue.
In the preferences dialog, Advanced tab, set the "Backspace key generates" to
"ASCII DEL".
Feel free to reopen and assign to xubuntu-default-settings or other
terminals that might have this problem.
