Since this bug has enough information, I'm going to mark it as confirmed.
At first sight, I would say that adding an initscript to do all the losetup
stuff before mounting the filesystem (i.e with a sequence number of S21 in
/etc/rcS.d/) would do the trick.This is just a guess and totally untested.
I let someone more familiar than me with this process decide of it's
future status. Thanks again.
