Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Virtual space is a special kind of space used in Persian (and Arabic)
text that has a width of zero and is used to separate letters with no
space in between. Without this virtual space, the adjacent letters are
drawn as joint to each other. It is called the "zero width non-joiner"
in Microsoft Word and is the Unicode character 200C (HEX).

The problem is that this non-printing character should not be visible
normally, but it is visible for some fonts, and is drawn as a vertical
line. It is also drawn in generated pdf files and when printing the
document. Virtual spaces are not visible for the same fonts in Microsoft
Word, which has the correct behavior in this case.

Also, as far as I remember, this problem where not there in earlier versions of
OpenOffice Writer.
I have attached an image of the bug. The above line is where you can see the
bug: the vertical lines between letter. While the lower line (which is in
another font) is correctly drawn.
