OK, thank you for following through with those attachments. I am still unclear on what the actual problem is. When you say "custom configuration", what is it that you are trying to do? If the display looks wrong, please post a screenshot or an actual picture of the screen. If you are trying to add to xorg.conf, please tell me what it is that you are trying to add and for what purpose.
Does it work normally using the default xorg.conf (you said the screen was "working fine")? If so, then it is not an autodetection problem, and does not seem to be a problem with dpkg. You said it crashes if you try a custom configuration, but I need you to elaborate on that. Again, specifically what you are trying to to do, how you are going about it, and what is happening after you do it. The most recent xorg.conf that you attached is the same you initially posted, which is the one generated by reconfiguring X.
