Apparently only X freezes, as I am able to log in to the machine through ssh. Running top shows that X is eating up 100% of one processor core. I also attached to X with strace and got tons of this:
ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 ioctl(9, 0x40046445, 0xbf8ca748) = 0 --- SIGALRM (Alarm clock) @ 0 (0) --- sigreturn() = ? I also noticed that this time the mouse cursor wasn't moving either. I'll attach Xorg.0.log, top output and a fresh kern.log file that contains only the task list I got by hitting alt-sysrq-t during freeze. ** Attachment added: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16193925/Xorg.0.log -- X freezes when reenabling compositing in kde-window-manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/249251 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
