Found a ¨workaround¨, but it is not ideal.

1. Boot using recovery kernel (press ESC key when GRUB menu appears)
2. Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf adding the following code:

   Section ¨Module¨
       Disable ¨glx¨
       Disable ¨dri¨
   EndSection
