Please reopen as I also have this problem. Using Hardy live cd, and my Via SP13000 system
I have just got a Nova-T Dual - it is this model but not the diversity (via chip and single aerial input - WinTV-NOVA-T-500 model 289 SL-289-V2.1-UK. ) I tried to install Kubuntu/Ubuntu and MythBuntu (all three distros) on my system with the tuner card installed and it wont boot. I directly plugged the card into the mainboard (no riser). When booting with the PCI plugged in, the system hangs at the same point each time during bootup, i.e. after the bar stops whipping back and forth, but before the bar gets to filling up the progress bar (about 70-80% full). If I take the board out, it boots fine. If I install the system instead of the LiveCD same thing. So I then installed windows XP Pro SP2 and then plugged in the card. After downloadeing the latest drivers and installed them, all works and boots ok... I say ok, as although the system says good quality signal but the CPU is maxed and the tv very jumpy with sound breaking up. Just shows how much processing power demuxing a channel, interpreting it and rendering it takes. Anyway, I then tried installing MythDora 5 instead. It now boots, it's scanned for channels and found some. I have even seen the epg, video and recording all working... I am sure there is tonnes more information you'll need, but I am new to Linux, so please point me in the right direction to get you the info you need.
