This seems to be Kubuntu 6.06 or 6.06.1, and many bugs have been fixed
in the installer since then; that particular bit of code doesn't exist
any more. 6.06 will only be supported on the desktop for another 11
months or so. Could you please try Kubuntu 8.04 and report whether it
fixes your problem?
