Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 8.04 (and Xubuntu 7.10), when I try to resume from Hibernate,
it seems like it is loading. I waited until the hard disk stopped
getting accessed, but the screen was still blank. I typed my password,
but the screen was still blank. I assumed the hibernate failed, so I
forced my computer to turn off. Tried hibernating again, but it still
didn't work. Later, I suspended my computer. When the hard drive turned
off, the screen turned a very bright white, then turned off. When I
pressed the Power button, the hard disk turned on, but nothing else
happened. Forced my computer off, then tried again. Same result. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

** Affects: ubuntu
