Public bug reported:
I have an Acer Extensa 4420 laptop with Ubuntu 8.04. When I reboot with
an attached monitor, I get the unexpected result of a cloned video mode
with Fn+F5 (CRT/LCD toggle) not working, and the attached 19" monitor is
not widescreen but it chooses the same exact resolution as my widescreen
laptop (looking very bad).
Instead, I would like the Fn+F5 to toggle between LCD on and off, and
for my attached CRT (actually, an LCD panel display) to have its most
optimal resolution which is 1280x1024 instead of 1280x800 (the laptop's
resolution). Or, if that's not possible, then I'd like for Xinerama mode
to be the default when a system is booted with an attached monitor, and
where the laptop runs at the most optimal resolution and the monitor run
at its most optimal resolution, even if they are different resolutions.
** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
