all amd64 (one turion NB, 2x Athlons 64x2) on 64bit-ubuntus boot fine
after the update.

I tried booting the old FujitsuSiemensComputers FSC E-Series E-6500 with
256 (!sic, 2x128MB, so no update feasible, bigger modules seem so rare
and it is not worth the money...) MB Ram and this prozessor:
