The intel driver was used this time. It seems that the monitor sends wrong data 
or the driver doesn't handle it correctly which normally could be fixed through 
adding modelines. If you had still time you can try >>gksu displayconfig-gtk<< 
choose the intel driver and your correct LCD monitor with your resolution. 
After a X restart you should have the correct resolution.
Displayconfig-gtk is deprecated but might fix your problem so I guess it is 
fine. If it works please attach your new xorg.conf again.
