If I understand correctly, 6.6.3-2 is broken but 6.6.3-2ubuntu6 works fine? Since the difference is 8 independent patches, I would suggest to try removing one patch at a time to narrow this issue down. That is, start with the 6.6.3-2ubuntu6 source, compile it on Hardy and test. It should work. Then comment out the first patch (in debian/patches/series) and recompile and test. Then the second patch, and so on...
