Prior to flipping the kill switch, I have the following in dmesg: $ dmesg | grep 3945 [ 47.342508] iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux, 1.2.25 [ 47.342511] iwl3945: Copyright(c) 2003-2007 Intel Corporation [ 47.343612] iwl3945: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection [ 47.406475] wmaster0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-3945-rs' [ 57.051474] iwl3945: Radio disabled by HW RF Kill switch
iwconfig and ifconfig -a both show wlan0, so the kernel knows it's there, even without the kill switch on. Flipping the kill switch to on shows only: [ 142.432714] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xf1 on isa0060/serio0). [ 142.432724] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e071 <keycode>' to make it known. [ 142.434355] atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xf1 on isa0060/serio0). [ 142.434364] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e071 <keycode>' to make it known. Restarting network-manager does allow a connection. -- NM Applet does not show wireless networks after booting with wireless disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
