Same problem here. Ubuntu Hardy 8.04
AMD XP 2800+ 2G RAM Gigabyte MOBO
Can revert to prior kernel via recovery, but system incredibly slow and
internet connectivity gone, although all network components seem to be
configured and operating.
very weird stuff.
