As Evan says, this sort of problem typically isn't an installer bug. The
error means that the installer is having trouble reading some of its own
essential data from the CD drive.
This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive. It
may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, or to
clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from
electronics suppliers). Since hardware problems are predominantly the
cause of this kind of problem, I'm going to close this bug for now.
However, if you are unable to resolve it by hardware means, there's an
outside chance that it may be a bug in our driver for your CD drive. If
you suspect that, please reopen this bug and reassign it to the 'linux'
package.
