I installed that machine over the network after -19 was released, so I cannot speak to older kernels.
With or without quiet and splash, the machine hangs at the same point, with either no text printed to the screen, or the hang coming so rapidly after the text that it is never visible to my eye. Unfortunately, of the monitors I have available to me take a few hundred milliseconds or more to sync to a new resolution/mode, so there exists the possibility that a message is being rapidly printed and then lost. On other machines, my kernels print Loading... and then, within a half second or less, the display repaints with a slightly different font -- it seems likely to me that this repaint is when the kernel is hanging, because of the monitor's behavior (losing and never reestablishing sync), but that is speculation. The machine in question is rather important to day-to-day tasks, so I cannot just reboot it at any time. However, I will fetch an Intrepid LiveCD to be tested at the next opportunity. -- linux-image 2.6.24-19 does not initialize and boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
