We no longer have a dog (or a lemur) in this race because we are now avahi-free.
IYCC made a company-wide decision to prohibit avahi-daemon (including zeroconf, etc.), avahi-autoipd, mdns, network-manager, and dhcdbd on our network or in our products. (We ended up having to build a fork of Ubuntu to make everything work.)
