I guess thats a good point! The reason I came across it is because I
develop elementary icons (you might have heard of it). And, in our quest
to respect whatever desktop we're running on, we came across a problem
with the About Ubuntu application. We've removed the distributor-logo
icon completely from our theme and it set up to inherit icons from
Human, hicolor, and GNOME (in that order).

However, for some unknown reason, About-Ubuntu still assigns the wrong
icon! and even in the wrong resolution. I've attached a screenshot for
clarification. This sort of behavior (with inheritance) leads me to
believe that it is a bug, more than something to be expected.

I can understand that if we or someone else had set our theme to
overwrite that icon that we wouldn't be too happy with that behavior :)

** Description changed:

  running Ubuntu 8.04

- In the system menu, About Ubuntu should use a theme agnostic icon (or
- maybe inherit from hicolor). Instead it inherits the distributor-logo
- icon from places of the current theme. This causes problems when
- switching icon themes, even with themes that inherit the Human theme.
+ In the system menu, About Ubuntu should place its icon in the hicolor
+ theme (like other apps such as fileroller). Instead it inherits the
+ distributor-logo icon from places of the current theme. This causes
+ problems when switching icon themes, even with themes that inherit the
+ Human theme. This fix would allow an icon theme to optionally inherit OR
+ overwrite the About Ubuntu icon.

  For example:
I've switched to GNOME default theme, and now About Ubuntu shows the GNOME
foot. I've switched to Fedora's theme and now About Ubuntu shows the Fedora
logo. etcetera
