I guess thats a good point! The reason I came across it is because I develop elementary icons (you might have heard of it). And, in our quest to respect whatever desktop we're running on, we came across a problem with the About Ubuntu application. We've removed the distributor-logo icon completely from our theme and it set up to inherit icons from Human, hicolor, and GNOME (in that order).
However, for some unknown reason, About-Ubuntu still assigns the wrong icon! and even in the wrong resolution. I've attached a screenshot for clarification. This sort of behavior (with inheritance) leads me to believe that it is a bug, more than something to be expected. I can understand that if we or someone else had set our theme to overwrite that icon that we wouldn't be too happy with that behavior :) ** Attachment added: "Screenshot.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16364121/Screenshot.png ** Description changed: running Ubuntu 8.04 - In the system menu, About Ubuntu should use a theme agnostic icon (or - maybe inherit from hicolor).
