As you might know the 9600 GT is not supported in Hardy: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24/+bug/216636
So I tried all available options I found on the net. I can't remember if I installed first the nvidia-glx-new and later the nvidia-glx or vica versa. Anyway both scenario's are known to have issues uninstalling under certain circumstances: http://ph.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=825029 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24/+bug/36625 This fix worked for me: > sudo mkdir /usr/lib32 > sudo touch /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1 After this, everything could be uninstalled and the other installed. And finally: > sudo rm /usr/lib32/* > sudo rmdir /usr/lib32 All options left me with a black screen or the 800x600 resolution. I even tried to compile a new kernel with the beta 177.13 driver. Since I have run out of options, I hope you, or somebody else, can help me find a solution. Thanks B.t.w. the logs I send you are reproduced on a fresh installed Hardy-64. -- [nvidia-glx-new-envy] installs in /usr/lib32 instead of /usr/lib64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
