Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu
better. I suspect that you have removed the package 'evolution-data-
server-common', which will remove gnome-panel (since gnome-panel depends
on this package). You can still remove Evolution by removing every other
Evolution related package, but this one must remain. It only contains a
few architecture independent files anyway.
You can fix your problem by installing the 'ubuntu-desktop' meta-package
again.
As this doesn't really describe a bug in Ubuntu, I will close this bug
report. If you still have issues after re-installing the ubuntu-desktop
meta-package, you can re-open this bug report by setting its status back
to "New". To do this, click on the current status in the yellow bar
above, and select "New" from the drop-down box which appears.
