Public bug reported:

Whenever I customize my colors in emacs, my modeline is reset to
navyblue.  With a black foreground, that's annoying.  I found the
culprit.  /usr/share/emacs/site-list/emacs-extra/emacs-extra.el contains
a custom-set-faces section that sets this and seems to override whatever
I set using M-x customize-face.  The only way to fix this is to go into
my .emacs file and manually change this setting, but this will get
overridden the next time I customize any of my faces with M-x customize-
face again.

I believe that this (custom-set-faces ...) block in emacs-extra.el
should simply not be there at all.
