** Description changed:
I have installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 (32 bits) on a Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad T60,
after setting up the wireless network from the restricted manager the
network was not working.
$ apt-cache policy linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-19-generic
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-19-generic:
Installed: 2.6.24.13-19.44
The restricted drivers managed did report that the Atheros non free
drivers where configured and used.
The network manager did not report any error, the /etc/resolv.conf was
properly set (which indicates he did communicate with the wireless
router) but the ath0 interface had no IP address.
After reading
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_6.10_(Edgy_Eft)_on_a_ThinkPad_T60
I have found the following suggestion.
# iwpriv ath0 mode 2
I have executed it, then executed the network restart and I was now able to
get an IP address and have regular network connectivity.

+ card:
+ 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC
