Binary package hint: fglrx-kernel-source
running ubuntu 8.04 with ATI Mobility Radeon X300.
My card used to be automatically recognized by ubuntu and could use the
fglrx driver by going to System > Administration > Hardware drivers.
This worked up until the latest kernel release. Now my Hardware driver
window does not detect my ATI graphics card
pretty much fglrx worked with kernel 2.6.24-18, but not with 2.6.24-19
