I had a similar issue: all my firefox bookmarks disapeared, and I had a popup with this error message at startup: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIStringBundle.formatStringFromName]
Fortunately, I could restore my bookmarks from a backup of my profile (backups are great!), and to get rid of this error message, I removed the 'Forecastfox extended' extension. The problem disapeared... It looks like a recent update of that extension caused lots of damage...
