Please close this bug report. This seems to be a OEM issue and not an Ubuntu issue. I received my laptop back a 2nd time from HP. They have replaced the Broadcom on board wireless cards twice. An HP representative told me that there was a batch of defective Broadcom chips. I don't know if this statement is true or if its simply damage control rhetoric. Nevertheless, my dv6000 notebook is now working fine with the Ubuntu restricted drivers. This time the install went flawless and the little blue light for wireless is on and working perfectly.
