Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
I have NOT further information. I've just tried to upgrade from Ubuntu 7.10 to the 8.0.4.1 version (because some previous kernel upgrade had BROKEN my alsa and I lost all sounds on my notebook, DELL D630). I've come across a couple of freezengs during: Generating locales... en_AU.UTF-8... I've found some workarounds ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=865679 ), however, all installation FAILED. I'm VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED...
