Public bug reported:

Have laptop sold in South Africa with the following label:

euroTEK
Model Name: euroTEK M360-UC

VGA adaptor according to lspci:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci -nn | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome
Pro VGA Adapter [1106:3118] (rev 02)

Tried Ubuntu 8.04, live cd looks OK (screen resolution wrong, can adjust it
OK), so did a clean install. Upon reboot, get the Ubuntu standard startup. But
when x has to start, screen goes black. Can get to command line with
Ctrl-Alt-F4 (though screen font unusually large).

Xorg.0.log attached, this is for the livecd. I have also the log file
for the installation, it seems the xorg under the livecd sees "Chrome"
but under the installation it does not.

FWIW, have also got output of lshw; it reports quite a lot of VGA detail
(but of course either the info is false or it is not getting to xorg or
xorg is not treating it correctly).

Similar bugs: 179675, 207409.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
