Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-kde4-desktop

Kubuntu 8.04, KDE 4.1

After installing the new version KDE 4, 4.1, onto my computer, I have
encountered several errors. First, on my IBM Thinkcentre S50 8183CVU,
the process knotify4 takes up to 49 to 50% of my CPU power, on a 2.8 GHz
Pentium IV processor. It makes the fan roar like crazy. This does not
seem to be an error, because when I kill the process my CPU fan quiets
down extremely noticeably, to say that it barely makes a noise.

Also, although this is more likely a feature suggestion, the icons for
Shut Down, Log Out, Restart, Sleep, Hibernate, and Lock Screen are all
EXACTLY the same. This makes them indistinguishable. This might not have
been an issue in older KDE releases without widgets, but for example the
logout/lock sceen widget is incredibly annoying to use because it is
impossible to distinguish between logout and lock screen. At least the
the shut down and logout prompts give explanation to each one, but
without a caption the icons are meaningless. It would be nice if the
distinct icons that were seen in release 4.0 were seen in this one.

Also, the icon to remove a plasmoid is unclear, it looks like a pencil
and a piece of paper. Also, the rotate and resize buttons on the
plasmoids look like yellow boxes and lack tooltips, unlike the clearer
design seen in 4.0. Also, would it be too much to ask for a kubuntu logo
for the start menu button?

Also, the Show Desktop, and Show Dashboard widgets are immovable because
widgets are moved with a click and drag, but whenever they are clicked
they perform their function and the mouse is released, so they cannot be
dragged, which means they cannot be moved, which means they wind up
piling up in the corner until they are deleted. It is frustrating to
find the functionality of widgets, in my opinion one of the biggest
features of KDE 4, made useless by silly things like this.
