Thanks for your report.  Pidgin is already installed on your Ubuntu
system, and it is therefore not necessary to manually install it.  You
can run the application by going to Applications > Internet > Pidgin
Internet Messenger.  If for whatever reason you do not see Pidgin there,
you can install it by entering:

sudo apt-get install pidgin

into a terminal.

I'm closing this report, since it doesn't seem to be a valid issue, and
please don't hesitate to report bugs in the future!
