Actually, no...on my desktop, my keyboard maps dvorak in hardware, so I
use layout "us" with no variant:

Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection
My laptop (which I haven't upgraded yet for fear of this bug) uses
variant "dvorak".
