Attached is my current debdiff for this merge.

I spoke to geser regarding the change listed below and he is also unsure
as to why they are calling ./configure in the clean and that it had come
from Debian. He suspected it may be due to the Makefile existing to run
a distclean.  The new line

[ ! -f Makefile ] || $(MAKE) distclean

should correct this.


 - Dropped CFLAGS="$(CFLAGS) -Wl,-z,defs" ./configure $(configkde); \
      from clean target.
 - Added if test ! -f $(CURDIR)/Makefile;then \
     CFLAGS="$(CFLAGS) -Wl,-z,defs" ./configure $(configkde); \ fi
     to config.status: configure build target.

Maybe if anyone has some input.
