Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gedit
Similar to bug #34629 "Copy-paste with mouse wheel fails", but this
appears to have been closed.
Using gedit 2.22.3 on Hardy Heron with all updates applied.
For context: I'm using gedit to edit python, bash, html and plain text
files, with multiple tabs open.
When pasting text which was copied from various sources (i.e. other
tabs, other editor instances, terminal windows etc.) with ctrl-v ,
sometimes the text is not inserted at the cursor, but at some seemingly
random location, often out of view.
When it occurs, it seems like the insert command hasn't worked; Until I
noticed the error, I thought maybe I hadn't hit the keys hard enough,
and the second attempt *did* work correctly. However, later (usually
after trying to run a script) pasted fragments of text are found in
random places, such as in the middle of lines - at first I thought this
was random corruption, but I started noticing a pattern.
The problem seems to be worse when the editor has been running for a
long time, for example several days. It doesn't happen every time you
paste - maybe 1 to 3 in 10 inserts.
Hope that's enough detail.
Regards,
-andyj
