There are ways you can "humanize" this beep. And that is done by the
"xset b" command. For example, open a terminal and type "xset b 100 2000
20". Then listen to the beep. You can play with the numbers until you
achieve the desired effect. Or you can turn it off altogether by setting
then all to "0". See "man xset" for details. To save you're changes, add
the appropriate "xset b ..." line to your ~/.bashrc file so that it will
run every time you login.
