1. Yes, but only SOME of them. It seems a random thing. A lot of the image files, but some .doc and .xlt files too (I have to save them as Windows files, because otherwise nobody else can read them if I share them--everyone else using Windows here). 2. Couldn't safely remove the stick from the machine, because at some point my screen froze (unrelated to this problem--trying to get a DVD to play, yet another problem) and I had to do a hard reboot while the stick was still in it. I removed it after it shut down. (Could this have caused the problem, and if so, is it fixable?) 3. What do you mean by "file system?"
