Same problem, in general: UBUNTU boot splash shows, progress bar reaches the 
end, system will hang for a while with a flashing cursor, then I get the blue 
screen that says X could not start. Checked the error messages, got:
"ATI: PCI Mach64 in slot 1:0:0 could not be detected
ATI: PCI Mach64 in slot 1:0:1 could not be detected
Fatal server error
No screens found"

Neither Install nor Safe Graphics Mode work. Changing the VGA settings
manually doesn't work either. With 6.06, I would have to go into safe
graphics mode to get the live CD's X to start, but it would work. This
one won't.

6.10 i386 Live CD

Processor: 3.2GHz Intel Core Duo
Video Card: ATI Radeon X600
Monitor: 20" Dell Wsomething2007
