I also had an issue with installing grub, I attempted to install it on a different partition than it initially suggested. I have a 150G drive partitioned in 4 partitions, 47M dell, 130G winXP, 10G Ubuntu, 2G swap. I also have a boot manager multibooting (system commander 8) and this is why I didn’t want grub to mess with XP. I told the install to put grub in partition #3 (10G Ubuntu) and it failed. I assume I was to blame because I am complete Linux novice. I have included the error screen, partman and syslog, I hope the zip is OK. As a reference I am using Edgy 6.10 normal cd (not alternate).
