Michael, Thanks for the update. Can you confirm whether the Rhythmbox is not able to play the songs after some other player was started or some media was played in the browser prior to trying the Rhythmbox? Can you also try changing the Music and Videos option in System > Preferences > Sounds to ALSA and verify whether the problem persists? Thanks in advance :)
