I see there has been no comments since the first of the year on this bug. I currently have this issue on Ubuntu 8.04 on my Dell Inspiron 1300. I have tried all the xorg.conf entries and they seem to have no effect. To fix the issue I do a reboot and everything comes back and is fine. It's a little annoying but it seems to correct it at this time. Just thought I'd add this here so that whoever is looking at this might know that it is still happening.
