I double checked my thesis of a non-existent generic IDE low-level driver by
blacklisting pata_via ("blacklist pata_via" in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist) and
rebuilding the initrd with "mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-20-generic
2.6.24-20-generic"
-> no detection of my VIA IDE ports anymore
