Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 7.10
Release: 7.10
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 no wireless extensions.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
blah

network-manager:
 Installed: 0.6.5-0ubuntu16
 Candidate: 0.6.5-0ubuntu16

hal:
 Installed: 0.5.9.1-6ubuntu5
 Candidate: 0.5.9.1-6ubuntu5

This is a dell inspiron 1420n, the wi-fi light is solid on, even if I
cycle the switch.

While investigating the device in hal, trying to remove it then restore
it, sudo stops working. I enter a command, and it hangs.
