By now I have not got such error again with gdmsetup either running it
from the system menu nor through the console.

Thx for the advice. I will keep it in mind.

Nevertheless, I am not a very advanced user (yet) and I do prefer to run
the apps from their respective menues, using its gui whenever possible.

I tried to run admin tools using sudo from the console.. Only when it
didn't work (don't start or vanish) clickling the respective entries in
the system menu.

Otherwise, I remark also that other non admin tools do not open (from time to
time) when clicking them in the menu. The app Sessions, or the respective
system monitor in Ubuntu (also in Kubuntu I had installed before.. Even in
other PC I also have Ubuntu using openbox as window manager and it also
happens).. Sometimes I click on the Ubuntu applications and it try to start for
a while but finally don't open.
Is it normal behaviour or considered as acceptable that sometimes, randomly,
programs don't open?

In such cases, there is not any error message, just the app does not start, not
matter how many times one clicks (and waits) on the respective menu entry.
