Same issue on a 4-proc with nvidia graphics card on :
$ uname -a
Linux tirnanog 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 02:46:46 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux
I had it with both kernels 2.6.22-14 and 2.6.22-15:
$ dpkg -l | grep linux-ubuntu-modules
ii linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-14-generic 2.6.22-14.38
Ubuntu supplied Linux modules for version 2.6.22 on x86/x86_64
ii linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-15-generic 2.6.22-15.39
Ubuntu supplied Linux modules for version 2.6.22 on x86/x86_64
The downgrading trick worked for me (thanks a lot)
