Hi Andrea,

I need more complete instructions on how to get that. I'm new to linux. I tried
in the terminal but get no response other than from bash that it's a directory.
Do I use aptitude?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Could you please add the log files from
'/var/log/dist-upgrade/'
to this bug report as seperate attachments? Thanks in advance.

Status in “update-manager” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
The update manager in stock Xubuntu 8.04.1 that was recently downloaded from
the Xubuntu website hangs immediately after clicking "Install
Updates", will not close when commanded to and is non-responsive. The
window is in gray. Firefox connects to the internet and browses while the update
manager is still stuck, so update manager should not be waiting for internet
response.

System installed on is Packard Bell with 233 MHz Pentium MMX, 256MB of memory,
10-100 ethernet card attached to Linksys WTG54 router and DSL. This is my trial
computer before installing Xbuntu on newer computers.
