I have been facing it in Ubuntu 8.04 since a couple of weeks. This
happens every time I bootup in the morning that when I login, the panel
appears but the panel applets/contents do not load following it. Instead
various apps which open up when I login such as Tomboy Search Window,
Liferea, BasKet etc. open up their windows while the panel applets like
Notification Area, Clock, Desktop Switcher, Trash, Menus etc. are yet to
load. It takes some 4-5 minutes for the panel applets to get loaded.

This doesn't happen the next time I logout and login back. But then,
most times I also miss some apps to get started which have been marked
to startup on Login such as Tomboy, BasKet, Liferea, etc. Am afraid
something happens in the sequence of things getting loaded when a Login
happens, as the panel always gets loaded correctly. It's the panel
applets which either do not appear or certain apps getting missed from
being started.

I had a screenshot of the same which I unfortunately deleted this
morning. Will add the screenshot and ~/.xsession-errors when I bootup
tomorrow.

@nitindb, Please wait for sometime to let the panel contents to load, it
usually happens for me if I wait for some 4 minutes.
