Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have installed Ubuntu on my 3 other computer with no problem. However when I install it to my DSE Scoop 2400 (it has A7S8X-MX motherboard with SiS SI7012 sound card), there is no sound when I play any music or video. I try Fedora, it has the same problem. I try Mandriva Spring 2008, it has no problem with sound. I try Debian, it work fine as well. Because I like Ubuntu so much that I finally try Kubuntu - I suspect KDE may work with my sound card - and it works. The only problem is that it cannot display chinese from the files in my flash drive. I install GNOME desktop package and logon with GNOME session, Firefox can play youtube with sound. When I logon again in KDE seesion, it can display chinese on my flash drive. Finally I fix the problem by installing Ubuntu first and then install KDE desktop. I still cannot get any sound if I play music and video in Gnome session but everything work fine in KDE session including chinese display.
