Bug is confirmed here with Intrepid Ipex on my Sony Vaio with Nvidia and linux kernel 2.6.26-5-generic. The following messages are displayed during boot:
[ 2.152084] uvesafb: Getting VBE info block failed (eax=0x4f00, err=-3) [ 2.152140] uvesafb: vbe_init() failed with -22 [ 2.152193] uvesafb: probe of uvesafb.0 failed with error -22 Trying to manually add vga modes in /boot/grub/menu.lst (for example vga=791) result in an entirely black screen though the whole booting sequence. Installing or uninstalling v86d has no influence on this nasty bug.
